A list of the more tricky definitions needed for population.

Replacement Level Fertility
The level at which each generation of women has only enough daughters to replace herself in the population. 2.12 is the usual replacement level.

Natural Change
The change in the size of population caused by the inter relationship between birth rate and death rate.

Population Growth Rate
The increase in a county's population during one year, divided by the population at the start of the year.

Longevity
The increase in life expectancy over a period of time. It is the result of improved medical provision and economic development.

Total Fertility Rate
The average number of children a woman will have during her lifetime.

Fecundity
The ability to have children. (Fertile)

Dependency Ratio
This is a ratio that compares the percentage of population available for work (15-64) and those economically inactive. The percentage of economic dependents (under 15 of over 64) divided by the percentage of economically active (15-64)
