Conservatism
An ideology that aims to keep what is best in society and opposes radical change. It can be a more flexible ideology than either Liberalism or Socialism, as Conservatives can embrace radical change, such as entry to EU.

Consensus
Broad agreement within a group. For example, there was broad agreement among all political parties in the 1950s and 1960s that the National Health Service should remain and be fully funded

Manifestos
A party maifesto is a list of policies that a party promises to carry out if it wins the election, such as cutting taxation. All major parties publish a manifesto during election campaign.

Socialism
A Political and Economic ideology based on the state or the community owning the main means of production, distribution and excahnge. The welfare of the individual is less important than the welfare of the community as a whole.

Influence
The ability to affect decisions through persuasion. It is what pressure groups do, or try to do
