search any person or vehicle in a public place if they are expecting to find: stolen goods, article adapted for; burglary, robbery, theft, car without permission, , an offensive weapon, criminal damage, or prohibited fireworks

the following are not valid; age, sex, hair colour, race, ethnic origin, gender, sexuality, clothing, previous criminal records and pregnancy

the officer must show police ID, why he is searching that particular person, explain why he is searching the person, his station, the details of the powers he is searching under, must give his name

if the officer is not in uniform he must show proof that he is an officer, police can only remove jacket/ coat, gloves, can feel collar, socks and shoes. if an intimate search is needed same sex, police station headscarf station/van, a written record

Self defined ethnic origin, date time and place of search, name and ID of officer carrying out the search, purpose for search, grounds for search

this statute states that the police can search people and vehicles in public and private places if the presence of drugs is

What does the sporting events statute state?
police can stop and search anyone on the way to or at a sporting event including trains and coaches - reasonable belief is not needed

What does the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 state?
searches can be held under s60 of this act if there is reasonable belief that serious violence might take place or if people are carrying dangerous / offensive weapons. Search must be authorized by a senior officer, no longer than 24 hours (extend)

What does the Terrorism Act 2000 state?
s47A states that a senior officer can issue a blanket search for 14 days - any pedestrian, vehicle if reasonably believed terrorism will take place. Secretary of state must be notified, can confirm, shorten or cancel it

What does the Terrorism Act 2000 state about clothing removals?
should be carried out by the same sex, can be asked to remove headgear, shoes, outer coat, jacket or gloves, and removal of headgear can be removed somewhere else also for sensitive clothing
