What is Pace?

Police and criminal evidence act, main law giving the police powers to stop and search,arrest and detain suspects, also sets the rights the suspects have when the police use these powers.

even if a person is only stopped the police should give a written report, including; date/time/place/registration of any vehicle involved/reason/persons self defined ethnic background and the outcome

When can police stop and search under the Misuse of Drugs Act?

If they have reasonable suspicion the suspect is in possession of a controlled drug

What additional powers does section 60 Criminal Justice and Public Order Act give the police?

The police can randomly stop and search without any reasonable suspicion if they believe violence may take place in his or her area, it can only be authorised by a senior officer and only lasts 24 hours.

To stop and search if they have reasonable suspicion of involvement in terrorism.
