Describe the construction of polar fleece
Weft knitted - begins as a knitted loop pile. Made from polyester, acrylic or recycled plastic bottles. Brushed on both sides.

What are positive surrounding polar fleece?
Does not crease. Traps air so is insulating. Lightweight, dries quickly, wicks moisture away. Very soft, can have finishes e.g. anti-pill/wind-proof.

What are the negatives about polar fleece?
Can be prone to piling.

Describe the construction of voile fabrics
Plain weave construction. Made with highly twisted yarns and is an open weave. Light can pass through gaps - transparent.

What are the positive of using voile?
Polyester is easy care. It is lightweight and unaffected by sunlight. It is flame retardant.

What are the negatives of using voile?
Will not block out light (privacy issue), may need french seams, flammable.

Describe PVC
Poly Vinyl Chloride. Used to give a flexible, plastic coating to a knitted backing.

What are the advantages of PVC?
Shiny, waterproof - can be wipe clean. Smooth, thermoplastic, can have a faux leather grain effect.

What are the problems with PVC?
It has poor stretch.
