Stanza
A verse in poetry. For example: A short paragraph on each poem line.

Enjambent
Lines of poetry flowing without punctuation. For example: "I'm feeling rather sleepy, but I really don't know why. I guess it is the way the day has spun out of control."

Personification
Giving an object on human characteristics. For example: "The flowers begged for water."

Oxymoron
2 different words/ideas that are used together. For example: "Freezing fire, burning ice."

Juxtaposition
Opposites in imagery. For example: "She heard a soft loud noise in the basement."

Hyberbole
Exaggeration. For example: "I'm so hungry, I could eat a horse!"

Rhyming Couplets
Pairs of last words of a line of poetry rhymes with the last word of the next line. For example: "I do not like them in a boat, I do not like them with a goat."
