What is the equation for acceleration?
chnage in velocity/time, a = [ v-u]/t
1 of 8
What is the equation for weight?
weight = mass x gravity
2 of 8
A truck has a mass of 2,000kg. The driving force created by the engine is 3,000 newtons.Calculate the acceleration caused by this force.
1.Write down the equation. force = mass × acceleration .. 2.Rearrange the equation. acceleration = force⁄mass .... 3.Put in the values. acceleration = 3,000N⁄ 2,000kg .. 4.Work out the answer and write it down, acceleration = 1.5m/s2
3 of 8
What is acceleration?
When an object moves through the air, the force of air resistance acts in the opposite direction to the motion. Air resistance depends on the shape of the object and its speed.
4 of 8
What is contact force?
This happens when two objects are pushed together. They exert equal and opposite forces on each other. The contact force from the ground pushes up on your feet even as you stand still. This is the force you feel in your feet. You feel the ground push
5 of 8
What is friction?
This is the force that resists movement between two surfaces which are in contact.
6 of 8
What is a scalar quantity?
A scalar quantity has magnitude but no particular direction.
7 of 8
What is a vector quantity?
vector quantity has magnitude and acts in a particular direction.
