Hard
A material that isn't easily scratched or indented

Force/extension for a sample of material

Once stretched it remains deformed when the stretching force is removed

Elastic
Once the stretching force is removed it returns to its original length

Ductile
A material that can easily be pulled out into a longer, thinner shape

Malleable
A hammerable material that can be deformed under compression

Strong
A sample of material that requires a large force to break it

Brittle
Easily cracks. The material is unable to deform plastically

Tough
Deforms plastically and can withstand dynamic loads
