Give disadvantage of series circuit.
If you removed or disconnected one component, then the whole circuit would break/Can't switch components off or on independently.
1 of 13
Are curcuits in cars connected in series or parallel?
Parallel.
2 of 13
What is in the frequency of UK mains electricity supply?
50Hz
3 of 13
Do batteries supply alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC)?
Direct current (DC).
4 of 13
What is the time period of a wave with a frequency of 100Hz?
1/100=0.01s

The diagram below shows a series circuit. Calculate the total resistance in the circuit.
R1+R2+R3=10 omhs

The current through A1 is 0.4A. What is the current through A2? Explain your answer.
0.4A-In a series circuit the same current flows through all parts of the circuit.

V1 reads 0.8V and V2 reads 1.2V. Calculate the reading on V3.
On a hot summer day Katie is running in the park, while Colin is sitting still at home reading a book. Will Colin or Katie be losing more water through their skin? Give one reason for your answer.V-V1-V2

The diagram on the right shows a trace on a CRO. Is the trace displaying the output from the mains or a battery? Explain your answer.
The trace shows an a.c.source, so cannot be from a battery/must be from mains eletricity.

What is the time period of the wave?
20ms- the wave takes four divisions to repeat 4x5=20ms
10 of 13
What is the frequency of the wave?
20ms=0.02s ---> Frequency=1/time= 1/0.02=50Hz
11 of 13
What will happen to the CRO trace if the voltage of the supply is reduced?
The amplitude(vertial height) of the wave will be decreased so the peaks and troughs will be smaller.

A parallel circuit is connected as shown. Calculate the readings on: Voltmeter V1, Ammeter A1, Ammeter A2.
Voltmeter=15V- potential difference the same across whole branch, Ammeter1=5A- current=potential difference/resistance= 15/3=5A, Ammeter2=5+3.75=8.75A
