WHY DOES A BALLOON EXPAND WHEN HOT?
because there is more kinetic energy.

the transfer of heat between solids. Caused by a heat difference between parts. gets more kinetic energy and passes from particle to particle.

because metal has many electrons that are free to move through the metal. these electrons transfer energy very quickly as they travel through the metal, and when you heat one end of an object, the particles start vibrating more.

the transfer of heat by the circulation or movement of the heated parts of the liquid or gas.

the hot particles rise as less dense, and the cold particles sink as more dense.
