What is SHC?
SHC means Specific Heat Capacity. It is the capacity of a material that is needed to raise the temperature by 1C.
1 of 9
What is SLH?
SLH means Specific Latent Heat. SLH is the amount of energy needed to do something to a 1kg of a material/substance without changing the temperature.
2 of 9
What is the SHC equation?
Energy Supplied = Mass Of Object x Specific Heat Capacity x Temperature Change. In symbols it is: E=MxCxT.
3 of 9
What is the SLH equation?
Energy = Mass x Specific Latent Heat. In symbols it is: E x M x SLH.
4 of 9
What is payback time?
Payback time is how long it takes for the cost of installing insulation to be equaled by the saving from reduced energy costs.
5 of 9
What is the payback time equation?
Payback time (years) = Cost To Install / Savings Each Year.
6 of 9
What does it mean when someone says "How efficient is it?"?
It means how good is it or how much does it work. Nothing is ever 100% efficent, which means some energy is always lost.
7 of 9
What is the equation for efficency?
Efficiency = Useful Energy Out / Total Energy In x 100/
8 of 9
What does the straight arrow on a sankey diagram mean?
The useful energy out. The bent arrow is the wasted energy out.
