Physics P2 2.2 Resultant force.

?
What is the resultant force?
A single force that has the same effect as all the forces acting on an object.
1 of 8
What must there be if an object is accelerating?
A resultant force acting on it.
2 of 8
What happens when the resultant force on an object is zero?
If the object is at rest it will stay at rest but if the object is moving it will carry on moving at the same speed and in the same direction.
3 of 8
What happens when the resultant force on an object is not zero?
There will be an acceleration i the direction of the force.
4 of 8
What does it mean if the resultant force on an object is not zero therefore there will be an acceleration in the direction of the force?
If the object is: resting it will accelerate in the direction of resultant force; or if moving in the same direction of resultant force, accelerate in that direction; or if moving in the opposite direction to resultant force it will decelerate.
5 of 8
What is the unit of resultant force?
Newton (N).
6 of 8
What is the resultant force of a 4 N force and a 3 N force acting in the same direction?
7 N in the same direction *** the two forces.
7 of 8
**IF AN OBJECT IS ACCELERATING IT CAN BE SPEEDING UP, SLOWING DOWN OR CHANGING DIRECTION**
