Wavelength
The measurement in metres from the beginning to the end of one complete wave oscillation.

Frequency
The number of complete oscillations per second.

Compression
The region of a longitudinal wave where the particles involved in the wave motion are close together.

Rarefraction
The region of a longitudinal wave where the particles involved in the wave motion are spread apart.

Peak
The point at the top of a transverse waveform

Trough
The point at the bottom of a transverse wavefrom

Amplitude
The maximum displacement measured from the rest position.

Displacement
The distance of the waveform or particles involved in the wave motion from the rest position.

Wave speed
The wavelenth in metres divided by the time taken for one complete oscillations.
