What are Convection currents?
Convection is the transfer of heat energy through movement. This occurs in liquids and gases and creates convection currents.
1 of 5
What is Conduction?
Conduction is when heat moves through an object. The electrons in piece of metal can leave their atoms and move about. metals are very conductive as they have free electrons so the particles gain kinetic energy and transferring heat to cooler parts
2 of 5
what is Radiation?
radiation is the transfer of heat in a vacuum as no particles are involved
3 of 5
What is evaporation?
Evaporation is when a particle in a liquid breaks away and turns into a gas, it takes away energy making the liquid cooler
4 of 5
What are Insulators?
insulators have large gaps in between particles which stop energy transfer
