PHYSICS-COLOURED LIGHT

?
What is dispersion?
It is when white light is passed through a prism and it splits into 7 main different colours.
1 of 16
Why does dispersion happen?
It happens because the colours in the white light travel in different speeds and that when they enter the prism it is denser than air therfore they have to change.
2 of 16
Which colours turn, how much?
Red the least, then voilet (it veers violently.
3 of 16
What is the order of the spectrum?
Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet.
4 of 16
What is the acrinim for the order of the spectrum?
Really, Old, Yachts, Give, Birth, In, Vain.
5 of 16
What is the spectrum?
It is a band of colours.
6 of 16
What are the 3 primary colours?
Red, Green and Blue
7 of 16
What are the secondary colours?
Yellow, Cyan and Magenta.
8 of 16
What makes yellow?
Red and Green.
9 of 16
What makes magenta?
Red and blue.
10 of 16
What makes cyan?
Green and blue.
11 of 16
Why is something blue?
Because that colour is reflected and every other colour is absorbed.
12 of 16
Why is something black?
Because all the primary colours are absorbed.
13 of 16
Why is something white?
Because all the primary colours are reflected.
14 of 16
Why is something magenta?
Because red and blue are reflected.
15 of 16
What do coloured filters do?
They absorb the unwanted colours and transmit the colour that they are.
