What is a quanity?
A quanity is anything we can measure e.g current or speed.
1 of 12
What is a vecotr quanity?
A vector quanity have magnitude and direction.
2 of 12
What is a scalar quanity?
A scalar quanity have magnitude only.
3 of 12
What is the definition of distance?
Distance is the length of a line joining two points. The line may be curved or any shape.
4 of 12
What is the definition of displacement?
Displacement is the length of the straight line between two points.
5 of 12
What is the definition of speed?
Speed is the rate of change of distance and is scalar quanity.
6 of 12
What is the rate of velocity?
Velocity is the rate of change of displacement.
7 of 12
What is instantaneous velocity?
Is velocity at one infinatley small moment in time.
8 of 12
How does instantaneous velocity link to the equation for velocity?
Our equation for velocity gives us the instantaneous velocity if the velocity does not change during the period of time used, i.e for an object travelling at a constant velocity.
9 of 12
What is the definition for acceleration?
Acceleration is the rate of change in velocity and is a vector quanity. However acceleration is the rate of change of speed only if there is no change in direction.
10 of 12
What does 'at rest' mean?
Means not moving.
11 of 12
What does 'deceleration mean'?
Is a negative acceleration.
