?
What does rubbing between two objects cause?
Cuses a build up of static electricity.
1 of 8
When can static electricity be dangerous?
if There are inflammable gases or vapours or a high concentration of oxygen. A spark could ignite the gases and cause an explosion.
2 of 8
if the charges in two objects are the same would they repel or attract?
They would repel.
3 of 8
if the carges in two objects are opposite would they repel or attract?
They would attract.
4 of 8
What is the flow of a charge known as?
The current, the higher the current the greater the flow.
5 of 8
What safety precortions might be taken in a factory in order to stop people from having a shock?
In a factory, machinery operators stand on insulating mats or wear shoes with insulating soles. This stops any charge flowing through them to the Earth.
6 of 8
What might happen if the potential difference between two objects is big enough?
A spark may jump the gap between the objects and any earthed object nearby.
7 of 8
How can static electricity be useful in indoustry?
Smoke is produced when fossil fuels burn. Smoke is made of tiny solid particles, such as carbon. To remove these particles from the waste gases an electrostatic precipitator is used
