Movement that gets the body moving and heart pumping more that at rest (including day to day activities like walking)

What is physical recreation?
Activities that are done for a variety or reasons at an unsophisticated level (e.g. a fun game of badminton)

The learning of physical, personal, preparatory and qualitative values through formal physical activity in schools.

an organised, competitive and skilful physical activity requiring commitment and fair play (e.g. playing seriously for your local/regional team)

What is the difference between outdoor recreation and outdoor education?
Outdoor recreation is just physical recreation in the natural environment (e.g. a country walk), where as outdoor education is young people learning in and about the environment, this can sometimes involve risk/safety

What are the recommended amounts of physical activity?
Adults = minimum of 30min moderate intensity for 5 days a week. - Children/young people = 60min every day

What 3 factors can the possible barriers for participation be cut down to?
Lack of opportunity, provision and esteem (OPE)

The chance to take part based on factors such at time or money etc.

Confidence

In physical recreation, what is the emphasis on?
participation (not the standard of performance), taking part (not winning) and enjoyment and satisfaction (not breaking records).

What are the benefits of outdoor recreation?
Appreciation of the natural environment, respect for the natural environment and gaining a sense of adventure

What are the benefits of physical education?
success, enjoyment, confidence, healthy balanced lifestyle, develop a love of exercise, learn a range of skills, gain decision making skills, develop communication skills, teamwork skills, to learn about fair play and responsibility.

This imagined risk is sought by teachers and leaders to give learners a sense of adventure and opportunities for personal challenge and development

This can be dangerous or fatal but this is avoided by careful preparation and use of appropriate kit and equipment.
