Physical geography: Water and carbon cycles: Systems concept.

?
What is a open system ?
Systems that have external inputs and & outputs of energy & matter.
1 of 9
What is a closed system?
A system that transfers energy into and outside of the system boundary, does NOT transfer matter.
2 of 9
What is an isolated system?
They have no interaction with anything outside of the interaction boundary. No input of energy or matter.
3 of 9
Identify one characteristic of systems
Function in the same way- involves inputs and outputs of material (energy/or matter).
4 of 9
identify one incorrect charcteristic of systems
Systems accuratley show the reality of what is happening in systems.
5 of 9
Define positive feedback.
Enhances and effect, which has an impact on the process- leading to a "SNOWBALL EFFECT."
6 of 9
Define negative feedback.
Decreases the level of change, by reducing soem of the inputs.
7 of 9
Define dynamic equillibrium
The state of balance in a system, where both the level of inputs and outputs are equal.
8 of 9
Idenitfy one factor that can cause disbalance in the system.
Large storm events- storm surges.
