Regular exercise has long term benefits. Different age groupd need different types of exercise to improve their quality of life. Children need exercise to assist development and older people need exercise to maintain mobility.

The amount and type of food that they eat can affect quality of life. This is particulary if the individuals have a condition such as diabetes or high cholestral.

This means the provision of a suitable environment which meets the individuals needs, i.e comfortable beds, chairs and a certain amount of noise.

Individuals may be at risk from a number of things: Their own carelessness, problems caused by age or disability.

Hygiene refers to cleanliness and the use of precautions to guard against infection to prevent unnecessary disease or illness.

This is to ensure that individuals are free from pain. Some people experience pain on a regular basis and sometimes continuously. Some of these health conditions include cancer and arthritis.

Social Contact
Without social contact individuals may become isolated and this can lead to depression. It can be provided by belonging to a range of social groups depending on age, ability and interests.

Social Support
Individuals receive social support from people who they trust, usually friends and family. It provides individuals with emotional security as they can discuss problems and have they help to solve them. It also provides physical support to the person.
