What is the symbol equation of photosynthesis?
6CO +6H2O =6O2 +C6H12O6
1 of 11
What is the word equation of photosynthesis?
Carbon dioxide + water = oxygen + glucose
2 of 11
What are the three limiting factors of photosynthesis?
Light intensity Temperature CO2 Levels
3 of 11
Why is light intensity a limiting factor?
Without enough light, a plant cannot photosynthesise very quickly, even if there is plenty of water and carbon dioxide. Increasing the light intensity will boost the speed of photosynthesis.
4 of 11
Why is CO2 levels a limiting factor?
Amount of CO2 - Even if there is plenty of light, a plant cannot photosynthesise if there is insufficient carbon dioxide.
5 of 11
why is temperature a limiting factor?
Temperature - If it gets too cold, the rate of photosynthesis will decrease. Plants cannot photosynthesise if it gets too hot as the enzymes involved in this reaction will denature (burst).
6 of 11
What are the three things that glucose is used for?
Respiration, stored as starch and frucrose, converted into fats , proteins and cellulose.
7 of 11
Why are leaves broad and flat?
Increasing the surface area , so they can absorb as much sunlight as possible.
8 of 11
Why are leaves thin?
So CO2 can diffuse from the stomata to the paliside cells quicker.
9 of 11
Why do leaves have veins?
to carry water from the roots to the leaves and soluble sugars from leaves to the rest of the plant.
10 of 11
Why are leaves green?
They contain chlorophyll, needed to absorb sunlight.
