What is the equation of photosynthesis?
carbon dioxide + water = glucose + oxygen.
1 of 7
What is an heterotroph?
Organisms that ingest and digest complex organic molecules releasing chemical potential energy stored in them.
2 of 7
What is an autotroph?
Organisms that synthesise their own organic molecules (Carbohydrates, Proteins) using light energy, chemical energy and inorganic molecules.
3 of 7
What is a photoautotroph?
Organisms that photosynthesise light energy, carbon dioxide and water e.g. plants, some bacteria.
4 of 7
What is a chemoautotroph?
Organisms that use energy from exergonic chemical reactions.
5 of 7
Why is photosynthesis needed?
Creates oxygen needed for respiration, takes carbon dioxide from the air and allows plants to grow and supports food chain.
6 of 7
What is the endosymbiont theory?
When 2 organisms have a mutalistic relationship (both benefit) 1 organism lives inside another organism.
