Telegraphic stage 24 – 36 months
3 and more words get combined at this stage in increasingly complex and accurate order. During this stage Children are able to make their meaning more explicit.

Post – telegraphic stage 36+ months
More grammatically complex combinations are made. It is this PTS that the acquisition of key literacy skills of reading and writing starts to develop

Phonemic Expansion
Smallest unit of sound that can display a contrast - therefore change the meaning of the word e.g. pan, ban. Early development stages allow a child to increase variety of sounds produced. (Particularly babbling stage)

Phonemic Contraction 9 – 10 months
As the child’s language developments progress, the number of phonemes they use contracts to only those found in their native language.
