1)Phobia = expression of unconscious conflicts. 2) Little Hans, 3) anxiety from repressed id drives. 4) Ego uses displacement/projection as defense.

1) Systematic desensitisation. 2) Implosion Therapy/Flooding.

Watch filmed or live models dealing with phobic stimulus = less anxiety.

1)Anti-anxiety drugs (minor tranquilisers). 2) Cortisol treatment.

What is used in psychotherapy?
1)Dream Analysis. 2) Free Association.

Is there a need for cognitive therapy?
Person knows fear is irrational so little point changing thoughts BUT! can try to change beliefs if faulty/reappraise actual level of danger.

What is needed for maximum effectiveness of treatment?
Integration of the different therapy options.
