to protect 9km form eastborne to bexhill, protects 15,000 properties, holiday caravans, coast road, railway line, wetland SSSI, Farmland

private-public partnership of both local and nationla organisations, 25 year contract, £30 million

why was it needed?
it had 150 wooden groynes in poor condition, decline in longshore drift meant the beach was no long self sufstaining

beach reprofiling, beach replenishment, beach monitoring, key groynes, wooden retaining wall, use of new materials
