They are expected to be obedient to men. Should they commit adultery it is considered a crime against God and can be punished by stoning them to death.

She argued that some women use the hijab to escape the confines of the home, permitting them freedom of movement allowing them into education also.

It allows them to gain status within a religious group depending on how hard they work and how much they achieve. In a meritocratic manner.
