Simple card theft
Where a person's credit/debit card is stolen and used by the thief to make purchases.

'Card not present'
Where someone's card details have been stolen (Card Number, sort code, CVV number) and the card is used to make purchases online or by phone.

Skimming
Where the card machine used by a retail outlet, a restaurant, or an ATM is fitted with a device which reads and saves a person's card details.

Identity theft
Where a person's personal info (name, address BOB, etc) is used to set up Bank Account or credit card and run up debt, or take out loans.

Phishing
Usually this occurs where a person's person is e-mailed a link to a fake website where they are asked for credit/debit card info.

Vishing
The telephone equivalent of phishing, where a scammer phones someone to represent a fake business and tries to gain credit/debit info.
