Shape constancy
The ability to perceive the shape of an object as constant even if it appears to change through movement

Colour constancy
The ability to perceive the colour of an object as constant despite changes with different lighting.

Depth perception
The ability of our eyes and brain to add a third dimension to everything we see.

Depth cues
Visual information that trigger distance.

Relative size
When our brain interprets that out of two objects the closer one is bigger.

Superimposition
If one object blocks or lies across another it seems closer.

Texture gradient
Further away detail tends to blend into one and gives a smoother texture.

Linear perspective
Markings converse at a distant point.

Height in plane
In a picture with horizon, objects below seem closer than above.
