1966 - Meredith shot during March - SCLC, SNCC, CORE and NAACP completed the march - "Freedom Now" and "Black Power" were both chanted - marking a shift from non-violence towards radicalism

1966 - highlighted that peaceful protests would not work in the north - heatwave - riots erupted after police cut off water to the fire hydrants - King failed in Chicago because he could not relate to the de facto discrimination in the North
