What is fitness?
Being physically able to meet the needs of your envrionment

Health-related fitness and skill related fitness

What does health-related fitness involve?
CV endurance, Muscular strength,muscular endurance, flexibility

What does skill-related fitness involve?
Agility Balance coordination speed power

What is cardiovascular endurance?
The ability to exercise your whole body for a long time

What is muscular strength?
The amount of force a muscle can apply

What is muscular endurance?
The ability to repeatedly use your voluntary muscles over a long tie, without getting tired

What is flexibility?
The amount of movement possible at a joint

Fewer injuries, better performance, better posture

The percentages of your body weight made up by fat, muscle and bone

Static / explosive / Dynamic

What is static strength?
Exerting force on a stationary object / Rugby scrum

What is explosive strength?
Exerting force in one brief, fast movement

What is dynamic strength?
Apply force repeatedly over a long time and is linked to endurance (press up, cycling)

What is speed?
The rate at which someone is able to move, or cover a distance in a given amount of time

What are the two things you need for speed?
Fast reaction times / Fast movement times

How can you increase your speed and reactions?
Speed (CV endrance,power) Reactions (Drills->tennis players practice rallies)

What is reaction time?
The time it takes you to move in response to something (stimulus)

improves strategic thinking, decision making

Strength and speed together
