What is a basic skill?
A skill that requires less concentration and co-ordination than complex skills. E.g. throwing a ball

What is a complex skill?
A skill that involves high level of concentration and co-ordination. E.g. flip in gymnastics

What is an open skill?
Skills which are affected by the environment. Performer must react and adjust to changing situations. E.g. tackle in rugby

What is a closed skill?
Skills which aren't affected by the environment or performers within it. Skill is performed same each time. E.g. diving

What is a self-paced skill?
Skills which start when performer decides to start them. Performer controls speed and pace of skill. E.g. serve in tennis

What is an externally-paced skill?
Skills which are started in response to an external factor. Speed and pace of skill is controlled by opponent or environment. E.g. return in tennis

What is a gross-movement skill?
A skill that involves large muscle groups. Big, strong powerful movements. E.g. long jump

What is a fine movement skill?
Small precise movements. High levels of accuracy and co-ordination. Uses small muscle groups.

A learned action or behaviour, with the intention of bringing about pre-determined results with maximum certainty and minimum outlay of time and energy

An inherited, stable trait that determines and individuals potential to learn or acquire a skill
