What is Periodisation?
Periodisation is the division of the training year into manageable intervals with the goals to bring peak performance at key times of the athlete year.
1 of 18
what dose Effective Periodisation require
Planning, organisation, implementation and evaluation,Taking into consideration of both the individual and team strength and weakness, Taking into account the physical, technical, tactical and physiological
2 of 18
What is the Purpose of Periodisation
training volume and intensity can be monitored and adjusted where necessary, time periods to allow adaptations to take place are programmed ,overtraining and undertraining problems should not occur.

What are the phases of competition
Pre-season, In-season, Off-Season
4 of 18
Pre-season (Preparation Phase)
The main focus of the pre-season phase is to develop resilience to injury through developing an aerobic base and general strength gains to address athletic weaknesses

In-Season (Competition Phase)
The competition phase should then focus on more sports-specific strength and power endurance.
6 of 18
Off-season (Transitional Phase)
The transition phase is designed to unload the body from the stresses of the particular sport with an emphasis on cross training and injury rehabilitation or conditioning

What are the two district phase of Pre-season
General Prearation Period and Specific Preparation Period
8 of 18
General Preparation Period
The objective of the general preparation phase is the development of fitness and general technical skill development
9 of 18
Specific Preparation Period
The objective of this phase is to maximise the specific fitness qualities relevant to the sport. The Specific preparation period generally concludes with a pre-competition phases of training, providing the athletes the opportunity to play trail games

The break downs in phases may appear complicated and time consuming, but they provide the framework to ensure that the athlete is continuing to develop their skill and is being motivated throughout the season. It is important to be aware of any iss

What are the two main Subphases
Macrocycles and Microcycles
12 of 18
Macrocycles
Macro cycles are large blocks within a cycle of training that usually last for 3–6 weeks and vary throughout the year depending on the phases of competition and training outcomes required.

Microcyles
Micro cycles are smaller blocks within a macro cycle. Micro cycles usually last for 7–10 days. These allow for the manipulation of training volumes, intensities and recovery.

Peaking
Athletes use the term peaking to describe being in the absolute best condition, physically, emotionally and mentally at a specific time for an event or race. Peaking is not easy to achieve and it requires a lot of experience and planning; however, th

How is peaking is characterised
good health, adaptability to training, quick recovery, functional synergism (everything acting together), extreme efficiency, adaptability to stress, self-confidence, high motivation and aspirations

Tapering
Tapering involves a gradual reduction in an athlete’s workout demands in order to allow the body to recover from the stress. Tapering reduces strain on fatigued muscles and allows all of the athlete’s systems to restore themselves after intensive tra

Sport-specific subphases
The phases of competition require different approaches in order to effectively prepare an athlete for competition. The preparation phase (pre-season training) begins with a general conditioning program. This develops to the later stages where emphasi
