What is a political party?
An association of people who hold similar political views and who have the goal of implementing those views by becoming government or sharing government.

What is left wing politics?
Associated with a tendency towards socialism and involve such beliefs as collectivism, equality and social justice.

What is right wing politics?
Most associated with conservatism and include ideas such as a belief in free markets, nationalism, a strong position for law and order, and support for tradition.

Traditional and 'new right' conservatism.

Define consensus politics?
Refers to a high degree of political agreement between and within parties over a range of political issues.

Refers to a situation where there is a great degree of policy conflict between and within parties.

The agreement that British involvement in afhganistan was justified in 2011.

Whether the NHS needs to be reformed.

define conservatism?
Political tendency which developed in the 19th century. It implies a belief in order and security and opposes socialism. It favours traditionalism and opposes radical change.

How does conservatism compare with other traditions under Cameron?
Combination of neoliberalism, traditional conservatism and liberalism.

What is a faction?
A tendency for political parties to split into groups who hold views that are different from the mainstream ideas and policies of the party.

What are labour based on?
Democratic socialism or social democracy, a milder form of socialism.
