What is the function of the tube?
To hold the lenses and keep out all the light except that which comes from the object being viewed.

What is the function of the body?
This forms the base to which the other parts are attached.

To hold the slide and with a central hole to let light through.

What is the function of the objective lens?
The lens at the lower end of the tube. Different magnifications can be obtained by rotating the turret head to change to a different objective.
