What is a parasite?
An organism that takes without giving anything back. They live in/on a host.

What do fleas do to it's host?
Feed by sucking the blood of it's host and reproduces quickly.

What do head lice do to it's host?
**** blood from the human scalp, making them itch.

What do tape worms do it's host?
Absorb nutrients from the intestinal wall. Host will suffer from malnutrition.

What does mistletoe do to it's host?
Absorbs water and nutrients which reduces the host's growth.

What is mutualism?
A relationship where both organisms benefit.

Explain the mutualistic relationship between an oxpecker and a buffalo.
Oxpecker is a cleaner species and eats the ticks and maggots off the buffalo, which provides them with a source of food. Oxpecker also alerts buffalo of predators.

Explain the mutualistic relationship of a cleaner fish and a larger fish.
Cleaner fish eat the dea skin cells and parasites off a larger fish. Cleaner can avoid being eaten by larger fish.

Explain the mutualistic relationship between nitrogen-fixing bacteria and leguminous plants.
The bacteria get a constant supply of sugar from the roots of the plant. The plant gets all the essential nitrates from the bacteria.

Explain the mutualistic relationship between a chemosynthetic bacteria and a giant tube worm.
Chemosynthetic bacteria turns chemicals supplied by the tube worms into food for both itself and the host.
