What is the difference between mass and weight?
The weight of an object is the force of gravity on it. The mass of an object is the quantity of matter in it.
1 of 7
What can we say about the motion of a falling object acted on only be gravity?
An object acted on only by gravity accelerates at about 10 m/s.
2 of 7
What is terminal velocity?
The terminal velocity of a falling object is the velocity it reaches when it is falling in a fluid. The weight is then equal to the drag force on the object.
3 of 7
How do we work out the weight of an object?
Weight = mass x gravitational field strength
4 of 7
What are the units of weight, mass and gravitational field strength?
Weight (N), Mass (kg), Gravitational field strength (N/kg)
5 of 7
Why does an object dropped in a fluid initially accelerate?
There is a resultant force acting on it.
6 of 7
What eventually happen to an object falling in a fluid?
It will reach a terminal velocity because the resultant force becomes zero.
