What are safety features designed to do?
Reduce the force that is put on the occupants in a collison.

Increase the impact time and reduce the forces acting on the occupants.

Air bags and seatbelts.

How do the features inside the car help?
Spread the forces on the body across a larger area.

How does a air bag work?
Drivers head hits the airbag changes the momentum slowly so force on the head is less than if you changed it quickly.

What does a seatbelt do?
Stop the wearer being flung forward. It moves a little to increase the impact time.

What do police do after a crash?
They use the conservation of momentum to calculate the speed of the vehicles before colliding.
