What is osmosis
osmosis is the diffusion of water across a partialy permeable membrane from a dilute soloution to a concentrated soloution
1 of 5
Partially permeable membrane
Allows water through but wont let larger dissolved molecules through.
2 of 5
Water movement
To make concentration the same on both sides of the membrane
3 of 5
Net movement of water
Net (overall) movement of water = from a dilute soloution to a concentrated soloution
4 of 5
An example of a specialised plant tissue that uses osmosis to absorb water is:
A root hair cell
