# Origins Of The Universe

?
What is CMBR?
Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation, heat that is thought to have been left over from big bang, showing energy objects in space have. CMBR from radiation at begin of universe, Big Bang only theory that explains it.
1 of 8
What is the big bang theory?
That the universe began from a very small point, with all the energy concentrated into that point. This began to enlarge quickly in a hot explosion.
2 of 8
What is the Doppler Effect?
When a source [of sound] is coming towards you, the wavelength decreases+frequency increases. When moves away, wavelength increases+frequency decreases.
3 of 8
What is the Doppler Effect II?
... When a car is coming towards you, it 'squishes' up the waves, meaning that the wavelength is smaller, increasing the frequency. When it drives away, the wavelength 'relaxes' increases, and the frequency decreases.
4 of 8
What is red shift?
The further away a star is, the redder it looks. This is to do with Doppler Effect [that the further an object is away, the longer wavelength]. Red is longest wavelength, so redder it is,further away it is. Further away galaxy, faster moving away.
5 of 8
What does red shift suggest?
That everything is moving away from everything else.
6 of 8
What does the fact that 'the further away something is, the faster it moves' suggest?
The whole universe is expanding. Supports theory that whole world started from single explosion.
7 of 8
What does CMBR suggest?
That the radiation is the remains of energy that was created just after the bi9g bang
