What did the Assembly do?
It was the debating chamber of the League, located in Geneva, Switzerland. 42 original members, which met yearly and had the powers to admit members, elect permanent members, as well as suggest changes to peace treaties.

What did the Council do?
Met 3 times a year, (and in times of emergency) and had five permanent members (France, Italy, Britain, and Japan, as well as Germany in 1926) and four temporary members were elected yearly.

What did the Secretariat do?
It was the civil service that carried out administrative work. It kept records of meetings and prepared reports.

What were commissions?
They were set up to carry out specialist work. Some only existed for a short period of time (Refugees Commission), others were more permanent, such as ones dealing with health and slavery.

What was the Permanent Court of International Justice?
Was based in Hague, Netherlands, and was made up of judges representing legal systems of countries. It gave decisions on disputes, but couldn't enforce these decisions.

What was the International Labour Organistation?
Wanted to bring about the aim of improving working conditions. Representatives from around the world met to set minimum standards and introduce them to countries.

What was the Peacekeeping Role?
Aimed to resolve disputes, mainly done by negotiation. However, they could impose sanctions, including moral condemnation, economic sanctions, as well as using military force.
