What would you use to distinguish silver halide precipitates other than colour.
silver chloride precipitate dissolves in both dilute and conc. ammonia solution, silver bromide precipitate dissolves only in conc. ammonia solution and silver iodide precipitate doesn't dissolve in either.

What reagent can be used to test for the -OH group and what is the positive test result? What reagents will give a positive result?
PCl5 and you will see white misty fumes of HCl.
Water, Alcohols and carboxylic acids.
2 of 11
What is the formula of potassium dichromate?
K2Cr2O7.
3 of 11
What ion is chromium reduced to when it oxidises an alcohol or an aldehyde?
Green Cr 3+ ions.
4 of 11
What are the products when HBr reacts with CH3CH2CH2OH
CH3CH2CH2Br + H20
5 of 11
Trend in reactivity of primary secondary and tertiary haloalkanes with hydroxide ion (hydrolysis)
Tertiary haloalkanes react the fastest. This is because the carbon halogen bond is weakest in the tertiary compound. This is due to the positive inductive effect of the methyl groups.

What is an amine and how is it made?
An amine is a molecule where nitrogen is bonded to an R group(s) and hydrogen. Primary amine - Nitrogen is bonded to one R group and 2 hydrogens, secondary amine 2 R groups and 1 hydrogen and tertiary amine - 3 R groups and 0 hydrogens. They are made in t

What is the nomenclature of amines?
position of amine group, amino, number prefix, ane
8 of 11
Is ammonia a base or an acid?
It is a weak base. (Turns damp red litmus paper blue)
9 of 11
Reactivity of primary secondary and tertiary alcohols with oxidising agents.
Tertiary alcohols do not oxidise where as primary and secondary alcohols do.
10 of 11
Reactivity of primary secondary and tertiary alcohols with HCl.
Tertiary is fastest and primary is slowest.
