What were Zeus' responsibilities and how was he depicted?
He was the king of the gods. God of sky, weather and travelers. Zeus was usually depicted with a throne and sceptre and a thunderbolt.

What were Hera's responsibilities and how was she depicted?
Hera was the queen of the gods and the goddess of women and marriage. She was usually shown wearing the polos (crown) and holding a royal staff.

What were Apollo's responsibilities and how was he depicted?
Apollo was the god of education, music and the arts, medicine and disease, archery, the sun and prophecy. He was usually shown as a young man with a lyre, bow and arrows.

What were Artemis' responsibilities and how was she depicted?
Artemis was goddess of the moon, hunting, wild animals, childbirth and virginity. She would be shown with a bow and arrow and often with wild animals surrounding her.

What were Athene's responsibilities and how was she depicted?
Athene was goddess of wisdom, weaving and crafts and war (battle strategies). She was depicted holding an owl and the aegis.

What were Hermes' responsibilities and how was he depicted?
Hermes was the messenger of the gods and was god of travel and trade. He was usually shown to be wearing either winged sandals or a winged helmet.

Hephaistos was god of fire, metal=working and artisans and was usually shown holding an anvil.

Aphrodite was the goddess of love and beauty and was usually shown in or on a seashell.

Ares was the god of war and mindless destruction and was shown wearing full armour.

Demeter was goddess of agriculture and the harvest and would be pictured surrounded by flowers, fruit and grain.

What were Dionysos' responsibilities and how was he depicted?
He was the god of drama, fertility, wine and revelry. Dionysos was usually depicted surrounded by vines, ivy and animal skins, holding a thyrsos (staff of giant fennel) and surrounded by satyrs and maenads.

Poseidon was god of the sea, earthquakes, horses and bulls. He would usually be depicted riding a dolphin and holding a trident.
