What was the aim of this study?
To see if there is a relationship between infant attachment type and later love type.

Hazen & Shaver put a Love Quiz in an american newspaper, they got a staggering amount of replies however could only use 620 of them.

14 - 82 years.

Those who had a secure attachment in their infant years were the ones who were the most confident in their adult relationships.

Adults who formed an avoidant attachment as an infant were more likely to have jealous, bipolar adult relationships.

What were the results for adults who formed an ambivalent attachment in their infant years?
Adults who formed an ambivalent attachment as an infant were more like to have obsession, extreme jealousy and lust in their adult relationships.

What was Hazen & Shaver's conclusion?
There was a clear relationship between infant attachment type and the type of intimate relationship formed in adult life.

What is the problem with the sample used in this study?
The sample is self selecting, the participants had to put themselves forward and answer the love quiz themselves in order for their results to be counted. This means the results are not representative of all groups and is hard to generalise from.

How reliable were the results?
The results lacked reliability, as it was a quiz it is easy for people to lie or exaggerate.

What questions did the questionnaire use and why was this a problem?
Questionnaire used closed questions, hard to see the effect of extraneous variables on their relationship.
