How do you convert gcm3 to kg m3 ?
Just times by 1 Thousand
1 of 12
What are the 4 rules with significant figures?
Non-Zeros = Significant. Zeros between Non-Zeros = significant. Trailing zeroes = Significant only if there is a decimal and Leading zeroes = not significant
2 of 12
What is the rearranged equation to work out x from the straight line equation?
X = y-c / m
3 of 12
Describe what the results from standard deviation might mean...
The larger the answer the more varied the results are around the mean, whereas the smaller the answer/number the more precise the results...
4 of 12
What is Standard Uncertainty? AND describe what the answer might mean...
The standard error of the mean... The higher the number/answer the less accurate the results
5 of 12
How do you right the answer of confidence intervals?
The mean + or - the answer from the calculation ...
6 of 12
Why is the t stat from confidence interval calculations 2-tailed?
Because you want to know the intervals BOTH sides of the mean... both sides = two sides = 2 tailed
7 of 12
Give examples where the value may also be 2 tailed or even 1 tailed...
2 tails relates to looking at BOTH sides... so if you were asked if the sample data was different to the given value. A 1 tail example if you were asked if the sample data was greater than the given value (just ONE SIDE)
8 of 12
If the skewness or kurtosis value was less than your calculated answer from the given equations, this would mean? (what)?
That the results are symmetrical (less=good), and they are not skewed or have kurtosis...
9 of 12
What is a type 1 error?
Probability of a False Positive... So the null is correct but the results suggest that it should be rejected
10 of 12
What is 30895 to 2 significant figures?
31,000
11 of 12
What is a type 2 error?
The probability of a False Negative...So the null hypothesis is actually false but it is accepted
