What are non-woven fabrics made from?
Made directly from fibre and not yarn.

Describe the process of wool felting
Uses natural ability of wool to matt and felt.

What is required for felting?
Heat, moisture and friction.

Describe the properties of felt
No strength, drape or elasticity. Does not fray and is warm.

How is needle felt made?
Stabbed with barbed needles to tangle fibres.

Woven or knitted then felted and shrunk using heat and moisture.

Punched with barbed needles and tangled.

What is thermo bonded fabric
Used on thermoplastic fibres, fused permanently.

Fibres held together by visible stitches.
