What are non-woven fabrics?
Fabrics produced directly from webs of fibres. Have no grain, fused together with heat and pressure.

Made to any thickness, do not fray. Cut economically, quick manufacture and cheap. Don't fray, disposability.

Poor drape, weak so tear easily.

Needle punched, thermo bonded, stitch bonded, adhesive/solvent bonded.

Describe needle punched fabrics.
Fibres punched with barbed needles. Fibres tangle together. Strong.

Used on thermoplastic fibre. Fused and bonded together permanently.

Fibres held together by lines of visible stitching.

What are adhesive/solvent bonded fabrics?
Fibres held together by glue or solvents. Dipped or sprayed onto the fibre.
