-Multi faith and multi ethnic. - Social diversity is a strength but has also been a source of conflict.-Recently, economic inequality between north+south of Nigeria has created new tensions (rise of Islamic fundamentalist group Boko Haram).

-Nollywood (Nigerian cinema) is 2nd largest film industry in world. - Nigeria has won African Cup of Nations 3 times. - Nigerian music and literature is enjoyed within Africa and beyond. - Many Nigerian footballers have played for Premier League.

- Northern Nigeria is semi desert. - Southern Nigeria has high temp.s and high annual rainfall (suitable for forest crops, e.g. rubber, cocoa+palm oil). - Central region=tropical grasslands-is often used for grazing cattle+growing crops (e.g. cotton)
