What was the Kronstradt Rebellion of March 1921?
Orginally supporters - now disillusioned with Lenin's rule. Many now Ukrainian; unhappy with situation= demanded end to communist party, relaxed economic controls and freedom of speech

Trotsky- used elite troops of Red Army. Attacked the naval base. Took 3 weeks and those who weren't killed were sent to gulags.

Peasants had to give a proportion of produce to government the rest could be sold with a tax to the peasants. Private trading allowed

How did many communists view the NEP and what effects did it have on the party?
Betrayal- Lenin aware that it could cause splits in the party = Lenin banned fractions and all other political parties.

What were the positive impacts of the NEP on the Russian economy?
Immediate effect. More good availble, food shortages disappeared, famine ended. Cultivated more land, livestock increased. Coal and textiles doubled.

Sparked the Scissor Crisis. communists believed it encouraged greed, indepednence and self- interest.

widening gap between agricultural and industrial prices- agricultural production rose and prices fell
