What is a LAN?
A local area network which connects devices in a small area.

A wide area network is group of interconnected LAN's. Example: The internet

What is bandwidth?
Bandwidth is the data transfer speed in a network. The slower the bandwidth the slower the network will transfer data.

What is a wired connection?
When the devices are connected by physical wire, in order to increase the speed of transfer in the network.

What is a client server network?
A single server is in control and gives the packets to other devices, called clients. If the server goes down so does the whole network.

What is a peer to peer network?
A network in which all users are equal, there is no central server.

What is a router?
A networking device which forwards data around the network.

What is a wireless access point?
A hardware device that allows wirelessdevices to connect through a wireless standard such as wifi or bluetooth.

What is a network switch?
A computer networking device that connects devices together to receive, process and forward data to the destination device.

What is a NIC?
A computer hardware component that connects a computer to the network.

What is interference?
Signals coming from other networks that disrupt the network and slow the speed.

What is physical obstruction?
When walls or floors are in the way of the network signal, slowing it down.
