what is Ethernet?
ethernet cable. the original method for connecting computers. ethernet can provide 3 transmission speeds, basic (up to 10mb(10 megabits per second)) fast (up to 100mb) Gigabit(100mb(1 billion bits per second)). another name for it is IEEE 802.3

it allows computers to communicate by radio or microwaves if they have wireless network cards installed. the speeds of transmission vary, from 11mb to 54 mb.
